  • Socks – warm wool socks are best, especially for cold conditions.
  • Hunting vest or jacket with plenty of pockets for shells and accessories.

Gear and Accessories:

  • Break barrel shotgun – We recommend a reliable, easy-to-use break barrel shotgun. Please no semi-autos.
  • Ammunition – Bring a sufficient supply of shotgun shells, typically light loads like #7 or #9 shot for upland birds.
  • Bird dog (if you’re bringing one) – Be sure to have a collar, leash, and water for your dog.
  • Water bottle – Hydration is key during a hunt.
  • Snacks – Pack high-energy snacks for quick boosts while out in the field.
  • Ear protection – If you’re sensitive to gunshot noise or if you’ll be hunting in louder environments.
  • Safety glasses – Essential for walking through tight cover to protect your eyes from tree branches and brush.
  • Any necessary medications – Be sure to bring along any prescriptions or necessary medications you might need during the trip.
  • Hunting license – Every hunter needs one, regardless of age. Ensure it’s up to date and available before the trip.
