I don’t say it nearly enough, but I am beyond thankful for my wife and family. Without their support, I wouldn’t be where I am today—living my dream as a Maine Guide.
For years, I worked as a UPS driver. It was a steady job, but the long hours and tough conditions wore on me. I wasn’t happy, and my wife saw that. One day, she told me to do
what made me happy. I told her that I had always dreamed of being a Maine Guide, but I had heard time and time again that it was a tough way to make a living in Maine, with short seasons and a competitive market. She looked at me and said, “I don’t care, as long as you’re happy.” That simple but powerful statement changed everything for me. It gave me the push I needed to take the leap and pursue my passion.
But following dreams comes with sacrifices, and my wife has made plenty. Being a fishing guide often means being away for days or even weeks at a time, leading fishing and hunting trips, staying in remote lodges, and making sure my clients have the best outdoor experience possible. Meanwhile, she holds down the fort at home, taking care of our two beautiful boys and managing everything that comes with it—an already full-time job that becomes even more challenging when I’m gone.
I know it’s not always easy, and I know there are days when it’s downright exhausting, but she never complains. Instead, she encourages me, supports me, and reminds me why I started this journey in the first place. I truly couldn’t do this without her.
So, to my incredible wife—thank you. Thank you for believing in me, for standing by me, and for making sacrifices so that I could chase my dreams. I am forever grateful for you and our family. I love you more than words can say.
